If you want to create some type of PBX, you have to hire someone who will install the equipment & pay for the service.

To be safe you should contact an installer locally. He/She would be able to wire in what would be needed. If you were to make a mistake and disable a neighbors phone you could be in trouble legally.

Two internal phone lines. Neighbors phone line. I don't see the relationship or how it pertains to the question.

guapo is correct that you normally need a phone system to do as you desire with two phone lines.

You may be able to find software on the web that you can load on a pc with two modems which the phone lines connect to. This would be a mini PBX.

Try googling "phone server software".

Playing with the phone line is not some joke for people to play with. It is a nearly fragile public system that people depend on for fire, police and medical assistance along with medical monitoring hardware and alarms. Don't mess with it unless you DO KNOW what you are talking about. No one can tell the age and the state of a system over the internet. Contact a professional before you try this. The phone company pays millions each year on power to each phone. If you blow that power on your line you can take out your neighborhood.

We are talking about two phone lines into one house. Causing a short on either would not effect the neighbor or the neighborhood. It only affects the line in question. Your concern is unfounded.

shakbhutto we understand your need. It just isn't something you can do without a phone system. All you have are two phones connected to two phone lines. I would suggest you talk with your phone tone provider about 3 way calling. This is a feature they can add [well at least in the US] to one of your lines which will allow that line to do three way calling as you desire.

A multi-line telephone with conference call can do the job as long as the phone systems are compatible. One line to L1, the other to L2, or both wired properly to a RJ-12 jack.
