Specs: Windows XP
the card is recognized by the machine as a normal (wire) NIC, have tried 100 different drivers, nothing seems to be working...

It could be a bad NIC. Try another one....preferably one you already know works.

Found a driver (or part of it) which makes the card actually work though icon still looks like wired NIC.

Am still wondering why my wireless card would show (even when right click and select properties) is recognized as a wired card...
