Specs: Win XP Pro 32bit, Dual core 2.4
Can I transfer my WinXp system from laptop to desktop. I installed XP to my desktop, but it has no Ethernet driver. My laptop WinXP internet broadband works so I was thinking that I could just transfer the system from laptop to desktop and I would then have the Ethernet driver.

Access the website of the NIC maker to download the driver, but you still needs the graphic card driver since laptop video drivers usually are proprietary, not to say about motherboard ones.

Assumed the above issues can be solved, don't forget Windows XP needs to be registered using a legal product key, valid just for ONE PC.

It's a bad assumption. NO, in most cases you cannot simply clone an image of the hard drive and slap it on any ole desktop and think that it would work. Two different mainboards, means different drivers. In your case it sounds like you did a normal XP install, and after finding all the drivers XP could, it did not find the ethernet driver. To get that as above, you get the model of the motherboard, look up the maker for your model number and download the driver for the ethernet. If it a network card then you look up the maker and download the driver from their website. Also, in most cases simply copying over the programs file from the laptop will not get all your programs back working on the desktop. Data such as documents, music, favorites and pictures can all be transferred.

If, you can find another XP Pro serial key, there is an update tool from microsoft that may be worth a try, if registering doesn't co-operate.
