Specs: Windows 7, 4 gb
I have two desktops connected to the internet through wired connections to a
router. I also have one laptop that is wireless connected to the internet via the same router. (Also have another laptop running Vista, but not using it right now.) and all are part of the same work group with unique computer names.

Desktop 1 can see that there is a work group, but cannot see the computers in the work group. Error message about permissions.

This is not a networking issue it is a server issue. Make sure you have added the user on Desktop 1 to the Users in Desktop 2 and do the same on Desktop 1. Then check the permissions under the share to make sure both users are in the share.
