Solved I have a mystery Bluetooth Address

Gigabyte / Ga-78lmt-s2p
March 14, 2015 at 17:41:04
Specs: Win 8.1, 8gig
I have four paired devices all working satisfactorily but I have one address that appears on all devices and I have no idea what it is.

This is the address: L142781424300500416

The other addresses are all named, paired, and easily identifiable and this one is a complete mystery.

Regards

Are you finding this random entry on your devices in and around your home or workplace?

If the devices are detecting an open Bluetooth connection in and around the same area my guess is that a neighbour or someone in close proximity leaves their Bluetooth toggled on permanently. What you are seeing will likely be someone's device such as a phone, tablet or PC or even another Bluetooth peripheral.

A Bluetooth range has a minimum of 10 metres but can reach much further than that. I've developed a bad habit of leaving my Bluetooth toggled on since upgrading my phone because of the exceptional battery life it has. When I'm at home I can walk up my long driveway to the letterbox which is at least 20 metres, and still remain connected to my audio equipment at the house. Given that distance there probably is at least half a dozen neighbours that would see my device in their discoverable devices list.

btk1w1 thanks for your reply. The entry only appears around the house and I suspect that your comment regarding neighbours is correct. My apartment is above a store and it is highly likely that they have a Bluetooth connection. I'll do a check-up just to satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks and regards
