I guess my computer just stopped receiving packets....one morning i got on to the computer and Aim was on...but i couldn't check my mail, so i restarted and now i can't check mail or sign on to aim. A friend took a look at it and said something was blocking me from receiving packets...but i don't know ...how do i fix this?

Hey,

start> settings> network and dialup properties> right click on ur local area connection and select properties> click on configure > and play with the following settings..change one option at a time and wating for about 5mins. for chances to reflect changes..
1 . line speed/duplesmode
2. Recieve buffer size.
if u dont have these settings then instal driver from manufactured website..
