I cant connect to internet-other user can

September 9, 2011 at 03:05:08
Specs: Windows XP, 1024mb
I cant connect to internet but other user can. We use the same laptop but my internet connection was cut off whereas my son's internet connection on the same computer is working fine. I have used cable as well with no success. Obviously there is nothing wrong with the router or cable or wireless but there must be something wrong with my user settings. My son is using the same computer and can connect fine to internet as another user.

Reset your web-browser to default settings via Control Panel >> Internet Settings >> Advanced (tab) or simply use another web-browser i.e. Firefox Mozilla or Google Chrome.

Before we can do much to help we'll need to see your TCP/IP settings when you're connected.

Open a command prompt window (ie: Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and perform the following command:

ipconfig /all

Once you've finished, copy/paste the output into a response on here so we can have a look.

For info on how to copy/paste from a command prompt window click on my name above and read my "how-to" guide titled, "Post the output of ipconfig (version 2)"

If you can, get your son to connect and do the same thing and post both. Title them "Mine" and "Son's" (or something along those lines) when you copy it into a response.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
