HWC54D card using driver 188.8.131.52 dated 10/20/05 occasionally causes windows XP SP 3 to hang (freeze). When the card is removed the system audibly indicates it's removal resumes it's operations. When the card is reinserted the system audibly indicates it's insertion and the card also resumes it's operation as though nothing happened.
Is that the latest driver from hawking Tech? http://hawkingtech.com/index.php/pr... What exact model laptop do you have and did it come originally with XP? I ask because there are no Win98 or ME drivers suitable for the card but there are Win2k/XP 7 Vista drivers. This may indicate the device would not function well in a system that had an "Upgrade" from say WinME to XP rather than an original clean installed XP system.
Thank you for your reply. The computer is a Compaq Presario 711 CL and came with Windows XP home. The card was installed under that system and the driver is the latest I could find. Additional Information is when the hang occurs there is still about 40% of memory available.
