Can I use a hub to connect both a computer and a router to my DSL modem at the same time? I want one computer not to go through my router but to the internet.

That doesn't make sense. Routers are for connecting computers to the Internet. If you don't want a computer to go to the Internet, don't connect it to a router.

I want the computer to go to the internet but not through the router. I use my other computers wireless through the router. I have a MagicJack phone service that will not work properly through the router but will work directly through the modem. I put on a Linksys workgroup switch and it works as I wanted it to, the router and computer both going to the modem. Thanks

What you just said makes no sense (I'm not trying to be rude here).

" I use my other computers wireless through the router. I have a MagicJack phone service that will not work properly through the router but will work directly through the modem"

If it works for the wireless, it should also work for the wired connection, providing you have it setup correctly.

However, you seem to have things working:

" I put on a Linksys workgroup switch and it works as I wanted it to, the router and computer both going to the modem. Thanks" so I'm not even sure what you're asking or why.

You would need two ips from your ISP. One for the device attached to the hub and one for the router. Usually you only get one.

You would be better off figuring out how to use the DMZ zone on your router for the magicjack phone.

Are you ready for where Microsoft wants you to go today?
