I have connected 2 hub . The connection is in cat-5 straight cable. There are 2 port at the right side of the hub labeling uplink.I have connected the rightmost with the cable which comes from the previous hub and next to it the cable which goes to another hub. The distance between the two hub is approx. 100 m. I have tried in different wasy i.e. cross connecting and tied to other ports. But no connection . Is the problem in the cable. Is there any easy way to taste that the cable is OK. If the green lights is on can it be told surely that the line is ok?Please hlep.

You need to use a crossover cable to connect two devices that are the same (ie: hub to hub, switch to switch, PC to PC, router to router).

connect the uplink port of one hub with a regular port of the other hub using a regular patch [straight thru] cable. Some hubs don't like uplink to uplink but uplink to port 1.

If you've already done this I'm sorry but it wasn't real clear in your post.

If you use the uplink port and plug a cable into the port next to it it may not work as many hubs disconnect the port next to the uplink port.

Hook up the hubs by using the uplink port on one and the other a regular port. Then skip a port on the one with the uplink port.
