Sorry to post this again... but.....

OK, here's the deal.
We have internet service coming into a win2000 box on one nic and "shared" out to a switching hub. All the PC's are connected to the switching hub and working great. In a new office, we needed to add another PC, so I figured use a hub in between the switch and the 2 PC's but it's not working!! Anyone know why?

Thanks so much folks,
Dude, I am not getting a Dell...!

do you have the network cable plugged in to tyhe correct port on the hub, such as the uplink port, plus cant you just plug the new pc into the swith or have all the ports been used

did you check the ip address on the new computer? is it on the same subnet as the rest on the new computers that are working? can you ping the gateway from the computer that does not work?
I would maybe do a traceroute from the computer to the gateway to see where the problem might be in question.

I have no idea why you would be doing that to begin with. I would just from your Internet connection add a REAL router then put a hub or switch off the router and then plug all your network devices into the switch or hub.

Note

there is no such thing thing as a switching hub.

To connect to hub together, use the uplink port. Make sure they are both able to use the same speed in MBits.

Yes there is a switching hub!

also you sometimes have to use a crossover cable to connect certain hubs together if they don't have uplink ports.
