HP2200 Printer - IP assignment

- I have an HP2200N and four Windows XP Pro workstations on a peer to peer network. - Each workstation needs to have the individual ability to print so I created a printer instance on each machine with a Standard TCP/IP port. - One of the machines has a modem and it provides internet connection sharing to the rest of the network and dishes out DHCP.
The problem is that the whenever the power lost on the printer it obtains a new IP addresss and the machines cannot print unless the HP software is reinstalled. I did use Telnet to statically assign an IP to the printer but when the power was lost again the printer reverted back to DHCP and the print problem returned.

keep the printer on dhcp. You can "reserve" a ip address in dhcp for the printer so it gets the same address each and every time.

I didnt think you could reserver an IP on XP Pro. There isn't a server in the netowrk enviornment.

Yep you are right.
Next suggestion would be to load netbeui on the HP and wkstations. You will use a nonroutable protocol for printing. No address to configure and it will work after any reboot.
