my pc says there is no network adapter installed
It could be you need to install it's driver from the HP website - - take a look in Device Manager and it should show an error or "unknown device" if a driver is faulty or missing. If it shows error, download driver from HP. If the network adapter is not shown in Device Manager at all and no errors listed there, the adapter may have developed a fault. That's quite common on HP computers, especially wireless adapters.
