I have a HP jetdirect ex box on which I need to reset the IP address.. I have the latest jetdirect software which will not display the jetdirect ex box .. I have the mac address ... but the s/ware uses IP address only at present the box is set to IP 0.0.0.0 ...... The factory reset will not reset the IP but only the ipx/spx can anyone help ... I beleive the early version of jetdirect s/ware talked to the box on the mac address but the latest one uses IP ... Hp web site only seems to have the later s/ware available ...

You might be able to telnet into the JetDirect box using that IP. If you can from there you can change anything you want. Only catch is that any changes must be done in UPPERCASE. That's the easiest way I know of to change host names and protocols.

you can't telnet into 0.0.0.0 it is likely that the reset includes making it dhcp. if you have dhcp ( or install it) reserve an ip for that mac address and use the scope to dish out the rest of the config. or don't reserve an ip but use dhcp to give it an ip, then telnet into it . configure it as you like. make the device not dhcp and then take dhcp server back off. the arp command might be useful.
