Hello, I have local network as follows :

Gateway PC :
IP/subnet :10.43.1.1/255.255.255.0
Proxy : CCPROXY

Client PC :
IP/subnet :10.43.1.145/255.255.255.0

I have a software from a broker that I want to connect to their servers from my Client PC through Gateway that has internet access through ADSL broadband modem hooked on the 2nd lancard on the gateway.

Now the software's help as well as the customercare of the broker wants me to do two things :
1. Provide the proxy's IP address in the software's settings (That I have already provided)

2. Get three ports 10116, 25000 and 25002 opened from the proxy server end in TCP mode.

Now I do not find a way to open these ports in ccproxy. I think I'll need another proxy software running as well on the gateway that offers proxy service on these ports. Anyway, I have opened these ports in the window's firewall, and I am running zonealarm as well on the gateway server.

As a result of all this, I am just not able to connect my software to the broker's servers through the current setup from my client pc through the gateway pc.

Please guide me as what I need to do and what other software I may need to setup on the gateway and how and where to specify opening those ports and offering TCP proxy service on those ports.

The broker's customer care is just not able to guide me more than just letting me know what I need to do in these simple words... Please help!!

Did you open the ports you mentioned on ZoneAlarm as well as the Windows firewall? If not, you'll likely have to as ZA will still be blocking them if you didn't.

You may have to have software that is proxy aware sometimes. Some applications allow you to edit proxy information, some use the windows settings. You would also have to configure the ccproxy application to allow it.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Unfortunately the software I have been provided by the broker isn't either proxy aware or getting proxy information from internet explorer settings! It just allows you to provide IP address of the gateway and wants to have 3 ports opened on the gateway. I've now removed zonealarm from the gateway so for now zonealarm isn't a problem...

I need to open these 3 ports on the gateway and need to have this application from my client pc to access the broker's servers through the gateway pc... Do I need to get invovled with something such as PORT FORWARDING?

Please help!

That depends. Are you going to have external users connecting to the software on your PC? Or, are you simply going to be connecting to someone elses server?

If they're connecting to you, then yes, you have to port forward. If you're connecting to external resources only, then no, you don't need to port forward anything.

If you don't mind me asking, is this CCPROXY software something required by the broker or just something you decided to use?

Contact the maker. There are too many corporate lans that use proxies. You need better software or better tech data.

There is this really cool thing called a router that allows you to network your lan and protects you from the internet. Might want to consider one sometime. If you had one your troubles would be over.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
