Can someone tell me how to do a hyperterminal to collect call data from my phone equipment?
I have a software that alllow me to collect incoming and outgoing phone calls, but somehow it stop. I'm using a RJ232 cable that connect through a DB9 adapter COM1 on my computer to the PABX. I have tested and come to conclude that my phone equiptment is not sending me any data. Before I go ahead and call my phone equipment vendor I want to do a hypterminal to see if I can get any data, but I'm clueless of the steps. I have try and when in hyperterminal, configure my setting to use COM1, but it said it cannot open that Port. When I look at my modern setting, the modern is connect to COM3, but I used COM1 to collect data before it stop.

Hyperterminal needs to have some settings correct too. Be sure you know the baud rate, stop bits, data bits, parity, flow control and terminal type. Are they all set correctly. Is the cable good? Did you do a ohm test to see that the pinout is correct?

Com1 and Comm 3 usually use the same interrupt. Therefore they cannot both be used at the same time. Try putting Huperterminal on Com2 if it available.
