hai I have a task. I appreciate if any body helps me.
1. I have a Dos 4.0 PC which receives data from a PLC and data will be stored in the form of text files.
2. I have another PC with Win98 which I want to have that data on my PC and I want to show that data in different formats to the user.
Is it possible? If so how?
prideofyourself

Only solution I can think of is LapLink which is software you load in Dos [at least the old versions] and then with a serial or parallel cable connection between the two pcs and the software loaded on the 98 pc can you xfer files from the dos4 machine to the 98 box.
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

... along those lines - you still need the right cable - but there's the freeware Filemaven (DOS) and trialware Linkmaven (Windows) - they're pretty straightforward to use for simple file transfers
"I want to have that data on my PC and I want to show that data in different formats to the user. "
Ok - the meaning of that escapes me
We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true

DOS supports many network cards still. You can use that.
Dos supports terminal programs and ftp apps.
Dos 4 should have has intrlnk/intrsrv which is the same as direct serial connection.
You could use console function too, tty. I forget how to now. Something like set com1 mode dunno.
If you have any sort of floppy or cd you might be able to copy the data off.
Text can be imported but really it is text. It should be readable with some filter or you will have to import it by some scheme.
