Solved How to setup WAMP to work over the internet?

July 27, 2013 at 14:22:14
Specs: Windows 7
There is a WAMP server (Win 7 pro 32bits) which needs to be accessed over the internet. Access to WAMP from another computer in the local network is ok. Access to Remote Desktop throught the internet also works. But access to WAMP over the internet does not work.

Would like to receive some instruction on how to proceed in order to enable access this web server from the internet.

Thanks in advance.

Although WampServer 2 does have the ability, it's intended to only be a development environment. Because of that, it's not easy finding a straight walk-through to accessing your WAMP server online.

You could look into a VPN, like Curt said, or look into the ideas from this comment.

The best way, I think, is to just keep WampServer for local development, and then get web hosting elsewhere to host your site.

Which WAMP software are you specifically referring to? Do you mean WampServer 2?

I think you'll have two options:

1) Use a VPN
or
2) Put the WAMP server in a DMZ so it's accessible to remote users.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
