Could somebody help me in setting up the FTP Server in XP PRO? I need someone to give me step-by-step instructions, including setting up the user account. I have been fooling around with this for a couple of days no success. When I try to log on with WS_FTP client I get the following message: 530 User AL cannot log in, ! Logon failure, so quiting.

The best way to set up an FTP server on Windows XP Pro is to downlowd a third-party shareware app such as:
Bulletproof FTP Shareware, $30 Registration Available for download at http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10064-100-7441289.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-9-6.7441289
WebWeaver Freeware Available for download at http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10069-100-8897975.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-9-9.8897975
Both of these applications have received 90% or better ratings at CNET, and they should be very easy to use. They come with explicit instructions.
Good luck!

ok here's the deal about the XP ftp server. First you have to install the IIS program located on the XP cd. Go to control panel and select ad/remove programs. then go to add/remove windows components. install the File Transfer Protocol option under the Internet Services. After installation..go to control panel...administrative tools..click on the internet services icon. there you go... use the + boxes to scroll down to the ftp folder. open it and set the shared directory and logins...etc...if you ahve any further ?'s e-mail me
