Hi i would like to know how to setup an ftp server. I have downloaded several different server applications and i know how to set them up except fro the ip address of the server. I am using a DSL connection and my modem automatically assigns me a 192.168.x.x private address but i dont what address to tell the ftp server to use. I also looked up my public address through a website but that didnt work either. Please help. Thanx in advance.

Do you have a broadband router between your PC and the modem? It sounds like it since you have a private IP. That will determine the configuration for connecting your ftp server to the Internet.
When you get to setting up the server make sure you turn "anonymous" access off - all sorts of vile things could happen to your server otherwise.

If you do have a router you will probably have to tell it to allow connections through port 21(or whatever port you use) to your private IP.
