We have 12 machines in our establishment and have a fixed LAN installed. Our offices spread over 2 floors though not "large" in area. We wish to upgrade to a WLAN setup and would be grateful if someone could guide us through the process including the hardware that would be required.
All our machines run Win XP with SP1.
Thanks.

you will need a wireless router and wireless cards for all your machines.one thing i will say is u may want to check with the vendor -from whom u buy the router from - as to how many pc`s can be supported by the router on a wireless connection.im not sure if standard routers can handle as many as 12.if u do setup a network a domain is definitly going to be the way to go.plus u will need lots of bandwidth ideally around 2-3mb.and make sure you have encrytption enabled your not going to want to be broadcasting with no encryption as any wireless device nearby will be able to use your bandwidth.

Do you think you will install a WLAN as you plug a toaster in a kitchen?
If you need it to work 25% of time, yes it will be a pleasure for people here to guide you in this project.
Corporate WLAN need a much more network and security planning then regular LAN. What you should do is to hire a certified WLAN expert and/or security administrator to do it.
Without site survey and strong network planning, it will fail.
