FOR CAT Cable there are only 4 cable require
because 2 are transmeter and 2 reciver
so just 4 require

Hi, First thing is both should have same OS, at least Win 98 or higher. I have what you may want, a document that describes in detail.
Here's part - if you think you need it, email me and I'll send it.
I just used it and it shows the steps for any PC w/ windows.

"The following steps are intended as basic steps to connect a Peer to Peer network using two Windows 9x-based computers. The principles described below are intended as a general rule, and there will be exceptions to the below-listed procedures.
Make sure both systems have Network Interface Cards (NICs) installed and are using the proper cables.
NOTE: For a direct NIC-to-NIC connection, you need to have a "patch" or "crossover" cable. When you look at the cable ends, the color sequence of the internal wires will differ on each end. Straight cable will have the same pattern on each end, and is intended for use with a hub.
Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and Double-click the Network icon.
Click the Configuration tab, and make sure all the following are installed:
Client for Microsoft (R) Networks
NetBeui (your adapter)
Dial-Up Adapter
Your Ethernet Adapter (EN-1207D-TX in most HP Pavilion x5xx and x6xx systems)
TCP/IP (your Dial-Up Adapter)
TCP/IP---> Your Ethernet Adapter (EN-1207D-TX in most HP Pavilion x5xx and x6xx systems)
File and Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks
If any of the above components are not installed, manually install them by selecting add, then the missing component..."
