how to send message over network

On my network I have WinXP, Win98, WinMe. Is there way to send message over network so it could be received in all above OS? I'm interested in solution done in DOS and Windows.

Yes. If your host is 2000/XP, you can use net send. There is also shareware you can read about.
Windows 2000/XP clients need the "Messenger" service enabled in services.msc
Windows 9x/Me clients need winpopup running. (Winpopup should be in the WINDOWS or System folder, and you can put a shortcut to it in the Startup folder.)

hi, i'd like to add someting here... after enabling WinPopup service in ur Windows ME Machine, what you need to do is... open a DOS window and type:
net send * hello frends
note: u cna replace the "hello frends" text with the message u want to send. :)
by doin this, you will be able to send the message to all the terminals in ur network. :)
