Hi,
I have a project.
its a small company that is running novel, and wanna migrate to windows.
i will install and configure 3 windows 2003 servers. one of them should be a domain controller and the others should join that domain. i am gonna configure a DHCP , DNS , File and Print Server , and VPN server (ISA as VPN server and Firewall).
can anybody help me price this project and what process should i go with , and what is the expected price to output taking into consideration this project is in the US.
as much details and comments are welcomed.
note: this is my first free lance project. technically i am qualified but i had no idea how to price correctly and need an experienced advice. i don't wanna over price and lose the project nor price less and lose the money.
Thank you in advance

MS Server software doesn't come cheap.

Not only do you have to pay for the server software but in some cases you have to pay for each client that will access the machine.
They may want to reconsider having 3 or 4 servers although I wouldn't mention that yet. Never tell rich people how to save money.
When you calculate a job of that size, you can do it a few ways. You can list the labor and the materials separately and even give a range of what it would cost, depending on all the variables. I like to do it that way because if you calculate wrong, eating part of the labor cost is not as bad as eating part of the cost of the materials, in your case, hardware and software.

You should consider a quote that includes a cost plus and a limit price. Should be about 3 days of work or less skilled install, might take you two weeks. Dunno about any warranty issues, that is a big part.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

forgetting the software and hardware prices.
cause i aint making 1 cent of that.
what is the price range i should take for my labour (min - Max) keeping in mind this seems like a 1 week project (implementation alone)

Some people want a bottom line which includes the software and hardware, so keep that in mind.
If you just want to give a labor price there are 3 ways to do it, hourly, daily and flat rate. If it 'seems' like a one week job, how much do you want per day? Is $200 ok? If you give a flat rate price based on that, then you want $1,000 for the 5 days. I would also consider the possibility that you might want to hire someone to help you. It's a lot of work for one person. I wouldn't do all that work alone. Don't forget to calculate pay for the help.
