Basic home networking. First hit looks pretty comprehensive.

Depending on what OS both computers are running, it may be as simple as just connecting them both to an ethernet switch. That means you need one network adapter in each computer (likely already present), two ethernet cables, and one ethernet switch. Using the ethernet cables, connect each computer's network adapter to a port on the switch. Might need to change some network settings in Windows at that point, but if you're lucky it will "just work".

Read the link first and ask if you have any specific questions.

Is that wireless? Both are operating on Windows XP. I cannot connect with wires computers on different floors of the house. So can I do this through my wireless connection? Thanks.

Since you have networking working you would not need networking advice.

I have not played Age of Empires but multiuser lan games are pretty much the same.

In one of the game configuration screens is the option to play standalone or multiuser. If you choose multiuser you then have the option of creating a game [hosting] or connecting to a hosted game.

On the pc of your choice host the game. On the other pc join the game.

Pretty simple once you find the right screens.

Yes, you can do it through a wireless connection. The steps for setting up a wireless network are slightly different from wired, but not much. You'll need...

-wireless adapter in each computer
-wireless router

Okay, so now my question is...do I need to install the game on the "guest" computer. Not the host one? If that's the case. I'm in trouble cause I only have the one game disc. Thanks.

Depends on the game specs. Some allow you to install on both but only the hosting machine requires the cd.

You will need to install the game on each computer you wish to play it on. As wanderer stated, you may or may not need an actual CD in the drive of each computer to play the game. If the game does require a CD in each computer, try using a no-cd crack. These are widely available and can be found by googling. Don't request it here, though, as it might be considered hacking, which is frowned upon here. Right, wanderer? ;)

"crack" is also something we don't talk about here :-)

SunnyB25 how to play multiplayer game at home should be covered in the games documentation. If you don't have the manual anymore search for it online.
