Specs: Windows XP, Amd Athlon64xdual 60002gb

The Cable co. installed a Touchstone telephony Modem ARRIS TM402/P/110 for cable, phone and internet service, I need to move the computer to other place in the house, so I want to create a wireless connection connecting my 2Wire 1701HG Gateway modem to the touchstone modem and attach an usb 2wire wireless card to the computer to receive the internet signal, this can be useful to wireless connect my kids xbox and ps3 video systems.
My question is : how to setup the connection successfully?
thanks on advance..

Does the 2Wire have the facility to disable the Cable Modem and act as a Standalone Router ??

Well, I'm not sure about it, I test it connecting the Touchstone Modem to the back of the 2 wire and hooking the PC to the 2wire modem and the 2wire wireless card worked perfectly, but doesnt resolve my problem because in this way both modem are hook to the computer..
