Is it possible to give an ip to a SWITCH over the network?
Is the there any software to do it?(excluding telnet or hyper terminal)
How to do it?

normally you usa a serial cable and hyperterm in using the switches console port to set the ip address initially. After that you can telnet in.

Some do come with a default ip address. this will be in your manual for the switch. You can telnet to that ip and set it to what you want.

Perhaps there is software particular to your switch but again the first step I outlined is the standard.

You have to assign the IP internally or it is default as wanderer said.

Consult your documentation (it should be online).

You have to first set it through the serial port. Buy the serial cable. Or make it.
