How to get the default IP address

Specs: WinXP Pro Service Pack 2, 1.5G and RAM is 1G

i having problem to get the default IP address in my computer....

can anything tell me how to get it....

when i click on the lan icon i just only can see for the detail and inside the detail only got client IP address and server IP address...i cant get the default IP address to access to the moderm....so i cannot reset the moderm....

i dont know about the networking...just because need to set up a small network that cannot connect 4 pc together....

default address for modems are 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254

if its an adsl modem you dont need to change your address (if your connected directly into the lan port)

if its cable its 10.10.100.1

i browser 192.168.1.1 this using IE, it can prompt up the admin and password that interface....after i fullin all thing then it cannot browser the page...i dont know why....

i having problem is
1. i got one ADSL modem with router
2. i got one swictch with 4 port.
3. i want to reset the modem and let it connect automatically when i on the computer.it is possible for me to do this?
4. now only the main pc can connect to internet.
5. if other computer need to connect to internet, must other computer to be disconnected.the problem is, all 2 computer cannot go to internet at the same time....so what shoud i need to check for it...
6. Last time the person who are do setting with the main computer she got write down 2 IP address that is PRE and ALT IP address..i not understand why she write down this 2 IP address...

actually, what should i need to do if i want to reset the network or modem router?after reset all the thing then can i set all to automitically run if any of the pc is online..

Because now my house are having this type all network.i got 4 computer at home and any one of the computer is on, then it direct can access to internet already, no need to click any connection...
