How to get around AOL's router scam?

I have had AOL broadband for several weeks. I was told by AOL and TWC that I would be able to have one of my home PC's logged on to AOL while the other one could access the internet thru Explorer. After several calls I found out that I need an AOL compatable router. I already have a Linksys setup. AOL states that I need to purchase THEIR Linksys router with the special Firmware software to do what I want. $117. Does any know of any way, short of fireing AOL, to get around AOL's hardware SCAM? I only keep AOL for the parental controls (time limit controls for the kids). If no get around is available, any information on how to get online timers for other ISP's. (Earthlink and Road Runner are all I can get with cable. DSL is still not here yet. Thanks for any ideas!

Try http://www.akrontech.com/ , http://www.sarna.net/watchdog/ , or http://www.wieser.clara.net/qualtime/ . Better yet, just choose from sites such as this http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Shareware/Windows/Utilities/Security/Parental_Control/
