going to have to give alot more information than that.

first off is this still the same pc?
is it wired or wireless?
how is your network set up?
how are you getting the ip address?
what is the ip address of the pc and the gateway?
whats the subnet mask on the pc and the gateway

when you ping your gateway are you getting packet loss?
or is it when you ping a website?

first thoughts are that the drivers for the nic card are crap look for new ones.
windows xp has diffrent drivers from that of vist/windows7 machines

all text needs typos. There there for the reader to find,to distract them from the total lack of content.
google it! wasnt the answer to the question i asked so dont be dense and give me that repl
