|Yes, you put the IP in the "computer" field.|
RDC and SSH are two completely different pieces of software.
If you have a UNIX/Linux box go to a command line and do a man ssh for more info. If you don't have a UNIX/Linux box, you can install Putty on your Windows based PC and use that to connect using an SSH session.
When connecting to a remove server using RDC, if that server is behind a firewall, you won't be able to connect to it until you either:
1) Create a port forward redirecting RDC traffic on port 3389 to the LAN IP of the server
2) Create a firewall rule allowing that traffic to pass through.
Also, ensure the computer you're wishing to connect to has been setup to allow RDC connections.
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
