HOW TO CONNECT TO THE OFFICE?

I have a lan at work, connecting to the internet through a LINKSYS DSL VPN ROUTER and a PC with XP PRO at home, I read all the instructions on how configure IPSec between XP and a the router and I got them to connect. The problem is that I can't browse the office network from home. When I try to ping a network at the office i get an error: Negotiate IP security. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I know there is a connection between the two locations, but please someone tell me HOW CAN I SEE THE NETWORK AT THE OFFICE?

I want to connect to the network, as if I was another computer in the office. I've tried connecting to an NT 2000 SERVER VPN and to an XP PRO computer running a vpn server. Thw way I did it was forwarding port 1723 to the computer running the vpn server.
Any ideas. Please.
