Who did you buy a Private IP from?

I have a router and it allocates my private IPs free of charge.

Or are you talking about a STATIC IP ? If that is what you are asking about then contact your ISP. Your answer depends on the type of internet service you have subscribed to. Is it Cable? DSL ? Mobile? Dialup? Whatever type it is you have to have an appropriately connected & configured modem

"It's a private IP located in the US".

Sounds like a scam. How did you find this and who did you purchase this from? Usually the person providing you with the ip would tell you how to use it.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

For the OP's sake, I hope this is just a case of using the wrong word and he actually bought a public IP as vs. a private one.

Post the IP you received but put x's in the last octet. Something like:

Then we can confirm whether or not it's a public, or private, IP and advise you on how to get setup using it.
