Hi, expert.
I have a Sony Vaio PCG-F250 Intel Celeron 366MHz 32MB 4GB 24XCD 13in XGA HPA, which still works pretty well. It just has a RJ11 plug for internet connection. I wonder whether I can connect it to high speed internet which seems need a RJ45 plug? and whether it should work on high speed internet with its equipped capacity? I would be very much obliged to you for help. Thanks.

You'll need a network card for your PC Card Slot.
With such a network card, you can use the high speed internet connection.
But I doubt that this really makes sence, because of the small system memory and the old operating system.

The RJ11 plug is for an 56 kbs analogue modem. As Paul says, you need a network card with an RJ45 socket and a digital broadband Modem.

Although it will work on your system but is is going to be a bit slow at times. It will be fine on a text based site like this or for simple Email but as soon as you hit any graphical content you're going to come to a grinding halt.

You will be stuck with Internet Explorer 4 or 5. Most web sites these days are designed for Internet Explorer 6 at least. I'm afraid a system like yours just doesn't cut it any more once you introduce it to the modern Internet.

Your laptop is probably only using the 32mb onboard. Looks like you have 1 memory slot that takes a maximum of 128mb pc66 witch would give you a total of 160mb of memory. This still isn't much memory by today's online standard.

You would also need a PCMCIA Ethernet card.

Also like others stated, your operating system is behind in the times too which would give you limited browsing capabilities.

Your best bet just use the laptop for something other then internet.
