|You need to find the network setup utility in debian and make sure it's setup exactly like the XP is. Which is to say, the network interface should either be set to DHCP (get an IP automatically) or Static and you assign the same info as is in the XP.|
Or, if you know your linux, you could enter the static info from the command line via a terminal window. Assuming the interface is eth0 your command would look as follows:
ifconfig eth0 inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx netmask 255.255.255.0
Do a man ifconfig for more detailed info on the command.
