Hi All,

I have 2 DHCP servers on my network, but I do not administer them. Question: From a windows xp machine, how do I select a specific DHCP server to get an IP from? aka block out the other DHCP offer even if it arrives first.

Thanks!

The short answer is: You can't

If you want the details, you need to read up on how DHCP works.

Yep, the admin should turn off the extra DHCP server, or put it on a different segment

Depends on the servers. Some may allow binding to a mac address via some pool. I think AIX and maybe Solaris possibly cisco's stuff.

The normal answer is usually the first to respond makes an offer.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
