Cable modem is usually only 1.5 MB/sec.

T3 is actually 44 MB/sec.

Hmmm in most cable provider, the bandwidth is 2.4 Mbps.

However, even a 1.5Mbps T1 line is much faster that a cable modem.. Why? Because you don;t pay for the connection, but for the reserved bandwidth on the isp's network. Then when you pay several thousands dollards a month for a T3, you have a full 45Mbps 24/24h on the ISP's border routers.

A cheepo cable modem share a 2.4Mbps between all local node's customers... and also share the ISP's border routers bandwidth.

andres 45mbps is diffrent from 45kbps
1kilobyte=8bits 1024kilobytes=1megabyte. a floppy disk hold up to 1.4 megabytes of info so if we divide 45*1.4 = around 33 floppy disks of info a
second I think

Let's put it this way.

If you own a true T3 line, you can download Windows XP RC1 off the Internet in about 5 minutes.
Crazy expensive, though....
