Hi

I have a question, When i log into www.google.com
My browser takes me to google.co.uk by default.
But, when i open command prompt and type ping www.google.com i get something like this Pinging www..google.com [64.233.169.99] with 32 bytes of data:
and I tried accessing the ip address from my browser. http://64.233.169.99 .. It takes me to google english.. why is it so.. how does it work.. ? My friend who is in japan.. tried it to.. he is gettin the same result..!!

Because when the google servers receive the request from your computer it reads your IP address from the information you sent. It does a reverse look-up on this IP address and determines that it originates from the UK and redirects you to Google.co.uk.
