how do network rooters connect to POS machine

Specs: Windows XP
i have point of sale machines and would like to use rooters instead of gprs for them to dial for authorisation. what are the requirements for the rooter? how do they dial to connect to hub/ modem.

By GPRS I take it you men General Packet Radio Service which is mobile/cell phone technology.

A router and Modem implies Internet technology, a completely different thing altogether. Routers and Modems do not dial, they are a permanent connection as soon as they are switched on.

You need to speak with your supplier to see if they provide authorisation over the Internet and they will advice you as to what hardware, and just as importantly, the software you need.
