I've successfully setup internet sharing through a router, now how do i setup my 2 laptops to share hard drive with files we both use ? Help much appreciated.as i been trying for days with all the windows setting and wizards
i am using 2 laptop both with xp home on them the router is a pilips snb5600 model the hard i want to share connects to my laptop via usb as it is external drive

Nathayn - Make sure both the PCs are in the same WORKGROUP so that they both could see each other. Secondly you can SHARE the HARD DRIVES by right clicking and enabling SHARING and SECURITY on both the HARD DRIVES.

i think i have made them both in the same workgroup where do i look for the drive i tried to look at work group computers but it wont let me

find the IP address of the computer with the hard drive attached and type it in the address bar in internet explorer on the other computer prefixed by \\

so if your ip address is 192.168.0.2
type \\192.168.0.2 in the address bar, then you should be able to see the shared drive.

ok dont know how safe this is but i got a shortcut on both laptops and and are sharing files great but the problem i s only work when i turn norton security 2005 can some tell me how to set norton to let comps share file and still be safe
