how do i setup internet dialer on startup

Specs: Windows XP, P4/2GB
I'm trying to configure my system in a way that when windows starts, my dialer will dial and connect to the network automatically (i use ADSL if it matters..)
So, I enabled autodial and don't get the prompt for user name /password when double clicking on my dialer shortcut (that's good).
After that, I placed the dialer's shortcut in my startup menu, rebooted and.. Nothing happens. I get nothing. It's as if the shortcut isn't there.
So, i know... I can paste a shortcut of some webpage in the startup menu and when rebooting - internet explorer
would show up as well as my network connection.
But im looking for a way to just dial the network when my system boots (without opening msn/icq/ie etc.) - just a
clean network connection.
can anyone help?
