How do i setup At&t dsl thru Router

hi i have at&t dsl service i need to know how to configure at&t so i can share the internet. so far ive made it so the router and the modem was hooked up togehther and it said that it was connected to the service i used PPPoe and entered the username and password so it was connected my router is connected to my computer (linksys BEFSR41) i can't make it so i can go on the internet i even went on at&t the program itself and it had an option that said you connected thru a router i clicked that it didn't work. I even set up the DHCP client table and DNS servers and it didn't work. Someone please help me iv'e tried searching google and even going on the linksys website please Help! I don't know what to do I am Confused!

Does AT&T have you as a PPPoE client or a PPPOA client. That is one thing to check out. Your router should have a Internet Status screen. See if it is connected or not. Make sure you have the router set as your Default Gateway. Also make sure you can ping the router. Then try to ping an outside IP address (www.yahoo.com IP is 64.58.76.224). Also on the router (if you are connected to the internet) you should be able to find out your external IP. Try pinging that. If you can ping your external router IP, you should be able to get out on the internet. Good Luck!
