Specs: Windows Server 2008 Standard
I need to create a WAN so I may connect our servers at two different locations. We are in the process of getting static IPs for the offices, however I am having a very difficult time finding resources online to connect the two servers to map the drives. Any sort of help would be deeply apreciated.

You start with what services you are using to connect the two sites. Usual choices are
Point to point T1
Frame Relay T1
VPN via internet

What you use will decide the next step

I'd like to use the cable internet connection and DSL internet connection at the other office to connect. Would that require VPN? We would like to avoid paying a company monthly to set up T1 lines directly between the two offices. I'll start researching VPN myself to try to unearth some information. Thank you very much for any additional information you can provide.

You will need vpn site to site routers/firewalls.

I recommend Sonicwall. Their appliances work well and you can have subscriptions for things like spam/antivirus filters.

Concerning monthly, you will pay monthly for whatever service you use including cable. You may wish to do price comparisons of all the factors involved in each before deciding which way to go.
