How do I get a Canon MP480 series printer to print.

Specs: Windows 8.1
My Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series can see the printer on the network but it will not print a test page.

First try the printer by normal wired connection to see if it's a printer or a network problem.

You "may" need to (re-)install the drivers afresh.. I have had similar problems in the past with a Canon inkjet and a re-install from scratch resolved them.

Remember that Canon insist on their order or procedure; usb setup first then networking... Also their current range will not allow both wifi and cat-5/ethernet connection to work at the same time. You are "obliged" to enable only or other mode of network connection at a time.

My elderly Canon inkjet will allow both modes at the same time - with some versions of windows and some version of Mac OS; but not all... Don't ask me why.. Never managed to figure it out.

Incidentally can you ping the printer (its network ip address)?

Nothings working. Maybe I should just get a new printer. It works if I hook up an Ethernet cable to it, but what's the point if I need a wireless connection.

Have you bothered to uninstall it; then go through the total re-Installation process?

Also have you tried a windos restore pont option; setting the computer back to prior the problem?

Also temporarily disble the firewall and see if that allows printing?

I'm not convonced the problem needs to be replaced; certainly not without further trouble-shooting.
