Presumably you have a router and you can't connect to it by wifi...

Are you sure your router is actually enabled for wifi - as in is wifi switched on, on the router?

Does your laptop see other wifi access points, if there are others around?

Is the manual source for your laptop. Suggest you download the lot as often useful to have?

There is a switch/button top right of keyboard to enable/disable wifi; have you tried it?

Section three in the manual is where to learn about setting up wifi; and page 7 shows the location the wifi on/off button.

When you post back, include make and model of your router; and confirm the (exact) version of windows you are using.

I use windows 8 for personal use. I have tried all that. Other devices are able to connect whereas mine isn't. It cannot detect any wifi. It just says 'no connections found'.

You have checked the wifi switch, and gone through the routines as in the manual?

Does the wifi adapter show in the systems device manager profile; and if so are there any yellow exclamation marks there, and/error messages?

Have you been "inside" the laptop? It "may" be that antenna connection is loose, or not properly connected

Did it ever work on wifi?

You have to remove the cover on the base of the laptop and check that the adapter unit is securely installed, and connected.

Occasionally these items can be slightly dislodged - being a laptop. Doesn't often happen but has been known to.

This is the service manual - from the link I posted earlier:

Section 2 - specifically 2-9 onwards discusses bottom access; and the HD and wifi adapter are under the same cover.

You will note from this manual that the wifi antenna itself is actually in the lid - at top of the screen housing. Obviously it has connections that end up at the wifi module - via a pcb path no doubt...?

Again - does the adapter (still) show in device manager?

And to confirm - if you go to any other wifi access point it still doesn't detect those either?

Did you per chance do "anything" to the system that produced the problem as described as a result. Or did this problem "simply arrive"...?

Can you identify too the actual make and model of the installed wifi adapter? Device Manager will furnish that info - as will Belarc Advisor and/or msninfo32.

Press the Windows key then tap the R key. In the box that appears (the Run box) type ncpa.cpl then hit the Enter key. Let us know what appears there, in particular whether Wifi is showing and whether it is Enabled.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
