Are you talking about a wireless network?

If so, connect to the management interface of the router (via your web browser) and just go in and edit the SSID. Make it whatever you want it to be and change the password to whatever you want to and give the SSID and password to your son so he can connect.

Alternatively, if you can't edit the SSID, you could just delete hers and recreate a new one for your son.

No matter what you do though, when creating a wireless network you want to use encryption and a password on the SSID.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
