How do I assess my network health?

I ahve a win NT/2000 network. The PDC is win NT. I have 2 file servers and 2 web servers that run win 2000 server. I also have 10 workstations running win 2000/XP connected to the network. There are 3 MACs that also connect to the network. All these computers are part of a network domain. It is a ststic IP network. My question is how do I monitor the bandwidth usage, any network bottlenecks etc. I would also like to monitor the servers' health as some of them are more than 2 years old. For e.g. I have an exchange server hosting our email. I do back ups regularly but I dont know how the server is holding up or if it is operating at maximum efficiency. We are a small company (6 people). So we cannot really afford to get a consultant in here to help us. Please let me know if there is any way I can monitor the network's health.

using performance monitor counters and system monitor is a good way of creating a baseline/locating bottlenecks. The nicest part is that these tools are built right into win2k.
