Specs: Windows 02.10.2010

I have an ipod touch 8GB. I have connected itunes to my pc and ipod. In order to connect to the enternet I need my password to my pc. Unfortunately it is forgotten. My wireless connection is netgear. In order to receive or create a new one I need to go into the routerlogin. When I did that, and entered the username and password, BASIC AUTHENTICATION WITHOUT A SECURE CONNECTION shows up. How do I manouver around that to receive my password or create a new one?

"I need my password to my pc. Unfortunately it is forgotten"

Yet you then write about getting into the router. Which is it?
No password to get on the computer?
Or you need a router password to secure your wireless router?

Sounds like you know more about this than I do. Ok, here goes...I downloaded itunes to my computer and into my ipod. Then when I went to use my ipod, I tried to go online and the ipod wanted my "pc password". I typed in what I thought was the password ( the password that I type in when I open up my laptop) and the ipod said that the password was invalid. When talking to people, they are saying that I need the password to my wireless network. Well? That's what I don't know? And if tha'ts what I need, I seem to have trouble receiving it. My wireless network will charge me for this info and i think that is robbery. So? Now I am really confused? All I want is to use this expensive ipod that I got for Christmas. Here it is MARCH!

Ipod would only ask you for your Itunes account and password.

Odds are you still need to register at itunes which is where you create an account with password. You can use this account to logon to the itunes store.

Nothing to do with pc or wireless.

Okay, I am fully registered with itunes. I have my appleID and I even purchased a song. However it did not solve the problem. My ipod is still asking for the password to my pc. On my ipod I go to settings, I see wifi....it says "Not connected". I click on it, it says." choose a Network" I click on the title that was created when I got my laptop. My ipod reads that name....Then is says," enter password ". Well, I don't know that pass word? What password? The password I use to open windows on my laptop? If so, my ipod dismisses that one? And I don't know anyother one? I've been told they want my router password. If that is the case? Then this brings me back to my original question?

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY ROUTER PASSWORD? After going into my router, entering the pc username and password, as instructed...It then says, the username and password needs to be sent in BASIC AUTHENTICATION WITHHOUT A SECURE CONNECTION.
So what now? HELP...=(

I always connected my ipod via the cable to the pc but then mine is a few years old. Sounds like your ipod is really a itouch in that it wants to connect wirelessly.

It would not be asking for your routers password but the wireless encryption passphrase so it can connect to the network via wireless.

Is your router a wireless one and did you ever setup the wireless side of it?
If you didn't set it up who did?

Normally you don't use your windows account and password to enter the router. You enter admin and the password you set for the router.

You would never leave the password at defaults or someone could change your router so you can't get into it.

Once you are in you would go to the wireless section, set your SSID and choose the encryption level [WPA2] and set a passphrase like the first line of a poem or something you would remember.

You save the config

Now you set the itouch networking to the same values you set for the wireless which are usually dhcp, wpa2, ssid.

Yes, I do have the itouch and they do want the wireless connection. And what you are saying is kinda what I was seeing when I was reading up on my wifi which is NetGear. Ok now I will go back and see if I can get the encryption passphrase.

Thank you again for your help, I will be intouch...
