Hello, I've been trying to figure out how to open some ports in ICS for Windows 98.
Now, I use a client PC that's plugged into a phoneline Network Adapter that is, in turn, plugged into the host PC's Netowrk Adapter. The only thing we use to share the Internet is ICS. No other software and no router.
So, I just checked out some of my ports using an internet website (Shields UP!) and about a thousand are closed, and 26 are in stealth. Due to that, a lot of internet-based programs either run slowly or not at all, and it has been a real pain for the past three years.
Is there anything in Win98 SE's ICS to open ports? My PC doesn't need to be THAT secure.

From what I can remember, buried somewhere on MS’s support pages there’s instructions for creating an .inf file that’s supposed to open/forward ports for ICS. There was also a freeware program that did this for you, I think it was called "ICS configure" or "ICS configuration" something along those lines. I never used it myself so I’m not 100% sure on this, Google one or the other see if you get anything.
