Hello everyone!!
OK...this may sound strange, but I found a very good PC (look at the specs...) in the street in front of a neighbor's house...:P

I put everything in (hard drive, CD-ROM, floppies, OS, etc...), but there's one thing I don't have in my hardware collection: a network adapter...:(

But it does have a dial-up modem...my question is, is there any way to connect that PC to another PC that does have a network adapter?? I want to connect them togehter with phone cables so I can have Internet on all of them...:P
Here's a picture of what I want to do:

(the site isnt open all day...)

Thanx!! ;)

The usual way is to pick up a Null Modem Cable at $6.00 and connect across your serial COM ports. Then you have what's called a direct computer connection. I suppose it's possible. You'd connect the two modems across their RJ11 serial ports and send direct modem commands across the line. See here:

for someone who's actually done it.

For $10 you can buy a network adapter and skip all of the other stuff.

www.directron.com has two models for less than $10.

Open up your Help and Support Center in XP and type Direct Cable Connection.

Click Make a direct network connection using a DirectParallel cable

It should tell you everything you need to know.

Not sure if it is compatible with 98 though.
